In-hand = Gross Salary minus Employee PF minus Professional Tax minus Income Tax. CTC includes employer PF and gratuity which are never credited monthly -- this is the main reason your take-home is 15% to 30% lower than your CTC.
Rs. 75,000 under the New Tax Regime. Deducted automatically from your gross salary before tax is calculated -- no proof or declaration required. Under the old regime it remains Rs. 50,000.
Internal appraisals typically yield 10% to 12%. Job switches generally yield 25% to 40% depending on skill demand and industry. Use the Salary Hike Calculator to see the actual monthly take-home increase -- a 30% hike often feels smaller than expected after taxes.
For most employees earning up to Rs. 15 Lakhs without large home loans or rent claims, the New Tax Regime is better -- lower slab rates and a full rebate up to Rs. 12L taxable income. If your total deductions exceed Rs. 3.75 Lakhs, compare both using our calculator.
Yes. The Rs. 75,000 standard deduction brings Rs. 12.75L gross down to exactly Rs. 12L taxable income. Section 87A rebate then eliminates the entire tax liability. Zero rupees in tax is payable under the new regime.
Employer PF (12% of basic, capped at Rs. 1,800/month) and gratuity (4.81% of basic) are included in CTC but paid separately -- never credited monthly. These create the biggest gap between the number HR quotes and what you actually receive.
