Cognizant Hike 2026: What Employees Are Actually Getting
Cognizant's 2026 appraisal drew attention for all the wrong reasons. Increments were four months late. Most people got less than they were counting on.
All of it is below.
Cognizant Hike Percentage by Rating Band
Cognizant scores employees on GoPerform from 1 to 5. Each band got the following this cycle:
GoPerform Rating | Hike Percentage |
Rating 5 (Exceptional) | 4.5% to 5% |
Rating 4 (Exceeds Expectations) | 4% |
Rating 3 (Meets Expectations) | 1% to 3% |
Rating 2 (Needs Improvement) | 0% to 1% |
Rating 1 (Below Expectations) | 0% |
Rating 3 is the most common band. 1% to 3% was the standard outcome. Even at the top, 5% is well short of what the last salary correction delivered.

Cognizant Bonus Payout 2026
E-letters went out to eligible employees showing payouts between 85% and 115% of target. Accounts were credited in March and April. Three-year high for bonuses, though years two and three in that window were underwhelming.
Salary increment and bonus were processed separately.
What Your In-Hand Salary Looks Like After the Hike
Below is how a 1% to 5% hike moves your monthly in-hand at common Cognizant salary levels under the new tax regime in FY 2026-27.
At Rs. 4 LPA (PAT / GenC fresher):
Hike | New CTC | Monthly In-Hand |
1% | Rs. 4.04 LPA | Rs. 27,500/mo |
3% | Rs. 4.12 LPA | Rs. 28,000/mo |
5% | Rs. 4.20 LPA | Rs. 28,600/mo |
At Rs. 6.75 LPA (experienced associate):
Hike | New CTC | Monthly In-Hand |
1% | Rs. 6.82 LPA | Rs. 48,800/mo |
3% | Rs. 6.95 LPA | Rs. 49,800/mo |
5% | Rs. 7.09 LPA | Rs. 50,800/mo |
At Rs. 7 LPA (GenC Pro / senior associate):
Hike | New CTC | Monthly In-Hand |
1% | Rs. 7.07 LPA | Rs. 50,700/mo |
3% | Rs. 7.21 LPA | Rs. 51,700/mo |
5% | Rs. 7.35 LPA | Rs. 52,700/mo |
No income tax at any of these levels under the new regime. The Rs. 75,000 standard deduction keeps taxable income under Rs. 12 lakh. Run your exact numbers on the CTC to in-hand calculator.
Why Cognizant Hikes Have Been Low in Recent Years
Three things explain it:
1. Client budgets tightened. US and European clients pulled back on discretionary tech spending. A large chunk of Cognizant's revenue comes from North America, so when that slows, salary pools are the first thing to feel it.
2. Retention over raises. Attrition hit 15.2% in 2025. Targeted payouts for specific people are cheaper than raising the whole salary floor. That is the calculation Cognizant made.
3. The Rs. 2.5 LPA fresher offer. Cognizant took serious heat for offering new graduates Rs. 2.5 LPA, unchanged since 2002. Large hikes for existing staff while that number stayed frozen was not a position the company wanted to defend.
How Cognizant Compares to Peers on Hikes
Company | FY 2026 Hike Range |
Infosys | 5% to 8% (average performers) |
TCS | Deferred / postponed |
Wipro | Deferred |
Cognizant | 1% to 5% |
Accenture | 5% to 9% (performance-linked) |
TCS and Wipro skipped hikes. Infosys did not. Cognizant sits between them.
Stay or Switch?
On Rs. 6 to 8 LPA, a 1% to 3% hike adds Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,000 per month. Most people will not notice that in their account. At 2 to 4 years of experience, switching companies typically delivers 30% to 50% more than waiting out the next internal cycle.
Worth doing before you decide:
Get an external offer first, then use your increment letter as the opening number in the negotiation
A lateral move at this experience level in IT services realistically yields 30% to 50% growth
Cognizant runs salary readjustments roughly once every 5 years, so waiting has a real cost
